Winter Lust- Fashion spread
So, it's that time of year again: The holidays are here and between countless holiday parties, Christmas presents, and family events you still have to
find time to shop for the perfect NYE ensemble. Have no fear, your fashionista fairy god-mother is here to give you guys and dolls a few tips for your perfect look.
Ladies:
For my girls who stick to the LBD (little black dress) for New Years Eve try a black sequin dress or a solid black mini with embellishments. The embellished shoulder is a hit in 2010 fall/winter collections, and there are also strapless LBDs with embellished centerpieces available at your local Zara, Mango, or H&M.
Let's say you already have your solid black dress in your closet & you're looking for a way to switch it up? No problem. Try a chandelier earring. It will draw attention away from the simpleness of the dress and balance out the short length.
Lastly, for my non-conformists! I normally encourage out-of-the-box colors for NYE with black undertones, but due to unpredictable weather, I encourage going with a Grey. Whether you prefer heather or charcoal, greys compliment all skin tones and you won't be completely ruined if a little rain comes yours way.
Matte golds and beiges are also excellent for New Years celebrations, however be careful with your accessories. We don't want to look like a walking tin man.
Let's also be cautious of the cut of the cocktail dress. Make sure you are buying a piece that compliments your body type. You can add a little spice this year & can still be comfortable.
Fellas:
Many men like to keep it simple or get goosebumps when the word "shopping" comes up. If this is you, and your New Year celebration is a little more grown and sexy, try a thin sweater with a button up and tie under. You will still be fashion forward without looking over the top.
Do not be afraid to mix prints! It was a big trend this year, and you would be surprised how good a checkered button up and striped tie can look together [as long as you stay in the same color family].
For the guys who take a little more pride in their swag, try a form fitting blazer with a button up and a thin tie. Kanye has done this look in a few appearances in 2010 and it is a definite thumbs up.
If you plan on doing a trench coat look, a slim fit or skinny pant will compliment this great. PLEASE I BEG YOU, don't ruin this look with your Sunday church shoes! A Lacoste loafer, a Prada Driver style loafer, or even a simple black boot will be much more suitable.
I hope my small antidotes of advice work wonders for you this weekend for your partying. Happy 2011 from all of us at Front Office Media Group!
